The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution began in the eighteenth-century in Britain, when people started to use new power sources to manufacture goods. This spread worldwide to Europe, and to the United States of America, setting a great change to the world. Large ranges of products produced in workshops gained high demand, and the development and assistance of machines were essential to increase the production. Development gave rise to the population growth in towns and cities, created mass production of goods in mills and factories, and made major improvements to communication and transportation. The production of immense quantities of high-grade metals such as iron and steel became raw materials for warships and guns. Vast armies were formed due to the revolution, as they were now equipped, moved, and fed year round. Along with the advantageous outcomes from the Industrial Revolution, a problem had also arrived with it; widely known as the exploitation of child labour. As industrialization increased, more people were needed to work in the factories, and children were the substitute for their parents. Many benefits were taken from this revolution, yet who knew such a consequential problem was soon to form.
