Women have come a far way as long as voting. In Quebec in the late 1800s, women owned property and could vote in local and municipal elections.In 1849 the word "male" was in the Quebec Franchise Act for voting,
If someone from the 1800s were to see how far women have come today, they would be shocked. The same thing will happen in the next century.
- On January 29th 1916, the women in Manitoba gained the right to vote
- In April 1917, British Columbia women were granted the ability to vote.
- On April 26th 1918, Nova Scotia women gained the right to vote
- April 17th 1919 New Brunswick women granted the ability to vote
- In 1925, in Newfoundland, women over 25 could vote
- On April 25th 1940 Quebec women had had the right to vote
